New job etc...

Ok so I've been at my new job for over a month now. Starting to feel fairly comfortable with my duties and my co-workers. I'm working at Davita in the mailroom. We have super busy days and days when we pretty much work for an hour and then read magazines or play games for 2 or 3 hours. Most days I get sent home at 3:30 (I'm supposed to work till 4). That will probably stop soon as they train me to "close". Those nights I will stay till 5. This week they have been training me to go to the post office in downtown Tacoma and pick up our mail and also training me on what's called the "tower run". Basically it's delivering mail to all 10 floors of our building and picking up any outgoing mail from those floors as well. Pretty simple but learning where some of the desks are and who sits at them has been a challenge, but I'm figuring it out. Today when we got to work we were told that there had been a power outage over night and that our computer servers were down and no eta on when they might be up again. We don't really use computers in the mail room except to clock in and out. So we started our usual stuff, I ran to the post office and picked up the mail, came back and we started processing it. At about 8am our manager told us that the computers were probably going to be down all day and they might start sending us home around 10. Sure enough by about 10 we start to see folks heading out the door. By 11:30 or 12 we are done with all the mail and pretty much everyone has been sent home but us. Our manager tells us we have to stay until we hear otherwise...we ended up staying all day! We don't really know why and were told to come in tomorrow as usual even though everyone else was told to call in before coming in as they still think the computers may still be down. And everyone that got sent home got paid for their full 8 hours! Kinda lame but whatever. Me and one other girl got to leave at 2:30. I debated leaving early as I doubt we will get paid for our full 8 hours but there was nothing to do! I felt bad for the girl who was scheduled to stay till 5...I really don't want to show up there tomorrow and be told to go home but that at least would be better than being told we have to stay all day with nothing to do! Hopefully that won't happen.
I actually had to scrape a little snow off my windshield this morning. Snow showers in the forcast for monday and tuesday...
Really nothing new going on around here-Carl's still building cigar box guitars, I haven't done any sewing or jewelry making in a few months, just not inspired and I'm too tired after work to do anything creative, lol.

job hunting

So let's see-I had an interview with Davita on the 8th of this month. They offered me the job about a week later. Since then it's been a constant scramble to get things printed, filled out and faxed back to 3 or 4 different representatives that are doing a back ground check on me before I can officially be hired. Trying to get everything done by this Friday. So thought I was on track until this morning when I got a call from someone telling me I failed the back ground check because I don't have a high school diploma or a GED! And because I failed the back ground check they would be withdrawing the job offer! Needless to say I was stunned...she did tell me I could get my GED and then reapply with Davita, but that they would most likely have filled the position I was originally trying to get by then. So I'm dealing with this fact and realizing I don't have a job after all and would once again be looking for employment. About half an hour later the same girl calls me back and asks me if I was planning on getting my GED. I said yes and asked if they would consider holding the job for me while I went to take the tests. She said she would talk to them and get back to me. 2 hours go by before she finally gets back to me and tells me that they do want me to have the job but I have to try and get my GED before my first day which is supposed to be Oct 4th.
So I check it out and GRCC only tests on mondays and it costs $75.00! So I have to take all five parts on the same day! And I have no idea what will happen if I don't pass. And I have to call that girl on my way to take my test to let her know I'm actually following through and doing it.
The thing is I was going to take it about 8 or 10 years ago and it only cost $35.00 then!! Ah well live and learn as they say.
I just never felt the need to get it, I have never had any problems getting good jobs without it. And this job is just working in a mail room for just above minimum wage! I guess it's only going to get harder and harder to get jobs without it though...

pain

I don't want to sound like I'm whining or complaining I just feel the need to talk about my chronic pain.
I was diagnosed with arthritis in my neck and lower back about 3 years ago. For the longest time I didn't know why my neck hurt so much and why no matter what I did or took the pain never went completely away. So being diagnosed helped me to understand even though it didn't make me very happy!
I have mornings when I can barely lift my head off the pillow. My neck is so stiff and painful I literally have to put both hands behind my head with the heels of my hands just behind my ears and fingers wrapped around the base of my skull to take the weight off my neck so I can sit up and get out of bed. It brings tears to my eyes some days. And like I said nothing I take or do seems to help. I've tried different pillows too.
Then there is my lower back, constant pain but it's more of a dull nagging ache. It slows me down and if I'm standing at the sink or stove for any length of time it really starts to hurt. Bending over and touching my toes to stretch my low back eases it for a bit sometimes.
I guess I just wasn't prepared for feeling like this in my 40's and 50's...
I am doing alot of research, trying to find natural ways to ease my pain. I hate taking pain killers and don't for the most part unless I'm having a particularly bad day.
I've been vaguely depressed lately too and think it probably has to do with being in this constant pain.
Anyway, enough whining, lol.
Thanks for listening :)

Just a couple of things to catch up on-I quit my job and Jericho is engaged!
Yes I quit my job after only being there a little over a month. I gave them 2 and half weeks notice so my last day is actually the 10th. I feel they mislead me about what the job was really going to be and the hours leave a little to be desired. During my interview they reassured me that about 20% of my day would be helping out at the front desk and the bulk of my duties would be keeping the clinic clean, assisting the therapists and doing laundry. Well now about 75% of my day is at the front desk...not what I want to do at all!! I work from 3pm to 7pm which means I don't get home till 7:30ish and well it's just not working out for me...So I'm done. Oddly enough Davita called me last week on a job I had applied for over 2 months ago. So that interview is for this wednesday at 11am. We'll see what happens.
So yes, Jericho is engaged! Mike (we all call him Mikey) is a wonderful man, intelligent, has a great job and he loves my daughter.
She asked him of course, lol, my girl is anything but traditional!! They originally planned on getting married next fall but had already purchased plane tickets to Colorado some time ago for a visit to his parents. So now they have decided not to wait but to get married while they are there in a couple of weeks! Then they are planning a reception for family and friends next fall. I'm sad I can't be there for the actual marriage but they want wedding clothes and pictures and everything taken at the reception and she wants me to make her dress, which I'm excited about. Here in Washington you have to wait a minimum of 3 days after you get your marriage license to actually get married. There is no waiting period in Colorado and this way his parents can be part of it too!!
One other bit of news as well, Israel is coming to live with us for awhile-he is really struggling to make ends meet. We have always told him if he needed a place to stay till he got back on his feet he could come here, it's a 5 bedroom house for goodness sake! So he finally accepted. I know what it's like having to move in with your parents after your an adult and have been on your own for awhile but it's just a fact of life nowadays!! Anyway I'm sure it will be fine-he will pay rent and he gets food stamps so he can buy his own food. He is bringing his little dog, Matilda, that I love...not sure how the cats are going to like it at first but I'm sure they will get used to her in time.

updates

I've been neglecting blogging but going back to work really messes with your schedule!!

I had to work 8 hour days this week to help out at the clinic until we hired the new girl. She will be working mornings and early afternoons until I come in at 3pm. I don't want to work full time which is why I accepted this position. It's 20 hours a week right now but could go up to 30 depending on the other girls schedule. She is an athletic trainer and will be working with the schools alot once football season starts. So my schedule will flutuate a bit depending on her schedule.

The weather has cooled off nicely the past couple of days. It was way too hot for our day at the renaissance fair. Carl didn't even go, he was in the car with us but I had to turn around half way there to take him back home he was so sick! I was hoping we could go together this coming saturday but doesn't look like that will happen.

Got a few tiny green tomatoes showing on my one plant! Probably should water it tomorrow since we've had no rain for a few weeks and alot of sun and heat!

Going to try to attach a picture now...

First week back at work

So my first few days at the new job have passed and today will be the start of my first full week there. I have to admit my second day on the job I was wondering if I hadn't made a mistake. But Friday was better and I feel pretty good about the coming week. I was really tired and frustrated with the lack of training and feeling very overwhelmed with all the stuff they were kinda throwing at me. I feel more in control now though and am just reminding myself that I still have 2 more weeks before the other assistant's last day and that should be plenty of time for me to get a handle on my duties and to begin feeling more comfortable. I know I'm perfectly capable of handling this job, it's just amazing how hard it is to get back into working full time after being at home for a year!
We went to the Highland Games at the Enumclaw Fairgrounds on Saturday. It was fun as always and not too hot for a change.
Next up, Renfaire!

Got a job

Wow so I finally got a job with Apple Physical Therapy! After applying for at least 3 different clinics and positions and having 2 interviews that went nowhere, I get a call last week from their HR dept asking if I would be interested in a position at the Graham clinic ( a job I didn't even apply for) So I said sure...Got an interview on Tuesday the 20th they called me back the next day to offer me the position and to send me out for drug tests etc. I was scheduled for Friday but they didn't have the forms I needed to give to the clinic so I had to wait till Monday to actually get my drug tests done. They also did a background check-everything must be ok cuz I start tomorrow! It's very part-time, 20 hrs a week, Monday thru Friday, 3pm to 7pm. I will be a CA, clinic assistant. I will be doing various things, laundry, cleaning, helping with the patients and a little front desk stuff too I guess...
The clinic isn't too far from home, less than 12 miles, about a 20 minute commute, not bad. So we shall see how it goes tomorrow afternoon :)

still no job

Didn't get the job at Apple-unemployment benefits all gone and no more extensions. Bleah...

Been doing some sewing lately, making tote bags. It's a really simple pattern, they are even reversible! I made a few from some pieces of a quilt top my mother-in-law was working on before she passed away. Those are going to my sisters-in-law. Think they will like them and it's a nice reminder of mom.
I made homemade donuts today. The plain kind, not the raised ones. Love my deep fat fryer! They turned out good but I over-cooked some of them. Just sprinkled them with cinnamon and suger. Next time I'm making glaze.

Bought our tickets for Highland Games online. Got them in the mail 2 days later! That was fast! Can't wait to go! We will be going saturday the 31st.

My mom finally made an appointment with a Dr! She is scheduled to go on the 16th. I'm going with her for moral support. And to make sure she goes!! She can't hardly walk or stand for any length of time anymore. Too much pain in her right hip and her lower back. I won't be surprised if she has a fracture in her pelvis somewhere. I'm so frustrated that she has waited so long to see a dr. I guess she had to get to the end of her rope...She's been afraid that all they were going to tell her was that she needed to lose weight-well she does! She is barely 5 feet tall and probably weighs 250! But I really think there is something serious going on-just don't know if it's arthritis, osteoporosis, fracture or a combination of all 3. It's so frustrating dealing with someone who is so stubborn and unreasonable sometimes! But at least she is finally going. The pain is interfering with her life and if that's what it takes to get her to the dr than that's what it takes.
My mom was in a car accident when she was about 8 months pregnant with me. She was riding in the back seat, it was the '50's, no seat belts in the car. When the impact happened she was thrown forward, her belly (with me in it) smashed into the back of the drivers seat and she ended up on the floor of the car between the front and back seats. When the paramedics came she realized she couldn't get up, they realized she was pregnant and told her not to move. Her pelvis was fractured. She tells me that the pain she has now is very similar to the pain she had when her pelvis was healing after the car accident.

job interview etc

So my job interview went pretty good I think. They want the new person they hire to start on the first of July so he told my I would hear back from them sometime next week. He did say he had 2 more interviews to do, so we'll see. It's a big clinic, I would definetly be busy.
Went to Izzy's today and helped him pull weeds and stuff in his front yard. He has morning glory vines that have engulfed most of the shrubs and trees in his yard. Pulling them out was a chore! We had to stop before we were done because we filled his yard waste container to the top. So more next week. He has applied for unemployment and food stamps-hopefully he won't be out of work too long-his unemployment is less than $200.00 a week. And of course he just signed a new lease on his house for another year and they raised the rent!
I made a vegetarian chili for dinner tonight-it was alright, a little bland-maybe it needs to sit overnight so the flavors can meld-needs more salt too! I topped mine with cheese and sour cream, that helped, hehe.
I cooked some Tilapia last night that turned out really good. Lightly coated in flour, fried in olive oil, added a couple of tablespoons of butter, some freshly grated lemon peel and some freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pan to finish it off. Served it over rice that I had cooked in chicken stock and tossed in some frozen peas and a little of the lemon peel. Topped it with chopped chives from my garden. Hubby loved it!
Thinking about checking out the Taste of Tacoma tomorrow...

The coffee shop that my son works at closed it's doors for good yesterday. It was very last minute, they let their employees know the night before. So Izzy is out of a job and no prospects in sight. He is applying for unemployment, hopefully he will get a few bucks. He was talking about going to school to become a surveyor but I guess he spoke to someone that recommended apprenticing in the field rather than going to school. So he is looking into that.
I have a job interview tomorrow with Apple Physical Therapy. It's for a clinical assistant position at the office in south hill. It's only part time but my unemployment runs out the end of this month so anything is better than nothing! And actually if I don't have to go back to work full time I'd rather not :)
Carl and I are maybe going to buy another door or 2 for the house this payday. It would be nice to get a door on the computer room at least!

Northwest Brewer's Festival

Yesterday we went to the nw brewer's festival in Kenmore. Who knew there were so many different kinds of beer?! There were lots and lots of brewers from all over washington and oregon and not just beer but cider and wine too. There was also a rootbeer garden for the kids!
It was held at saint edward state park. Beautiful park on the north end of lake washington with a huge building that once housed a catholic seminary.
I was actually glad it was overcast and cool as the area in the park where they held the festival was in a big open field with no shade.
Each person got a tasting cup and six tokens with the price of admission. I was designated driver so I didn't use all my tokens. I tasted a couple of beers and one cider. Ate some sad excuse for pad thai and sampled some really nice smoked cheese. There was live music, the first band was fun but the second, um not so much...young guys playing what sounded like punk, I don't know, seemed like an odd choice for the event.
We hung around for 5 or 6 hours then stopped at Catfish Corner in Kent for dinner. I tasted a small piece of catfish, ate a hushpuppy and a pile of deep fried okra. It was pretty good!
I'm tired and a little sore though from all the walking and standing-there was no place to sit except on the ground.

another job interview

Today I had a job interview! It was for an office assistant/receptionist position for Johnny's Fine Foods. The office is less than 8 miles from my house, just a few blocks from the Tacoma Dome and across the street from Freight House Square. Finding parking wasn't fun-had to circle the block 4 times before I found a spot. Went up some narrow stairs to a tiny office where I signed in and met the current receptionist. The lady that I had the interview scheduled with came out of a back office and she pulled up a chair next to the receptionist's desk and had me sit in another chair and they sort of interviewed me together. It's basic receptionist stuff, answering phones, screening calls, taking orders for spices and stuff over the phone and on the internet, ordering and maintaining the office supplies and a few other things. It's full time, 7am to 4pm with an hour for lunch. Benefits after 6 months. Casual, they were wearing jeans. Sounds pretty good so far then they tell me it only pays $8.55 an hour with no chance for a raise...gah!!
Here's hoping I hear back on some of the other jobs I applied for.

insomnia

I really, really can't sleep lately...it's taking me between 1 and 2 hours to fall asleep after I get into bed and then I'm waking up almost every hour. We put a fan in the bedroom for some white noise and that helped a bit, especially if the kids are up watching tv. Normally the sound of the rain helps me sleep as well, but we have a very noisy downspout on the corner of our bedroom that wakes me up and then of course there's the snoring...
I've tried earplugs but they hurt after awhile and fall out in the middle of the night! Our room is very dark and we keep it nice and cool in there, which helps- I don't know, I've started taking calcium before I go to bed, read somewhere that it relaxes you, drinking Tension Tamer tea also, not watching tv or staring at the computer for an hour or so before I go to bed as well is supposed to help...I don't know, maybe I just need to go back to work :(
Been in ALOT of pain lately too, the arthritis in my neck and lower back has been worse recently, mostly my neck and nothing I take for the pain really works. I don't expect to be pain free but some relief would be nice!

job interview

Had a job interview yesterday!! Only the 4th one I have had since being laid off almost a year ago! And I have applied for 3 or more jobs EVERY week!! Bleah...anyway, the interview went well. It was with Apple Physical Therapy. I applied for a front office receptionist position in two of their locations. One in Newcastle and one in Tumwater. I know, long commutes, but I have done that before. The job is basically answering phones, scheduling patients, taking payments, running insurance info, the usual front office stuff. The lady that interviewed me was concerned that I lacked some of the computer skills they were looking for as both clinics are quite busy. So I didn't feel very confident when I left though she reassured me she would forward my applications to both clinics and I should expect to hear back some time next week.

whole lotta nothin'

So yeah whole lotta nothin' going on right now but I know if I don't make myself write something my blog will sit here for weeks maybe months before I write again.
I pulled weeds out in my poor excuse for a front yard today and then went to my mom's and pulled weeds for her. Still have to weed the stairs that go to her back gate but got the side and front area done. Took me about 4 hours and the weather went from nice and cool to sunny and hot to pouring down rain! Need to mow our back yard but don't have a mower so are having to use a weed whacker. It works but I would like to get a push mower or a small electric mower.
Haven't made any more progress on the greenhouse but hoping to buy some of the siding this coming payday. I think I may go ahead and buy some tomato plants and put them in my herb bed till Carl gets the planters done for them. It's almost June for goodness sake!!
Haven't made any jewelry lately and the only sewing I have done was to make myself an apron. It turned out cute :)
Carl brought home a nice little recliner the other day that someone was throwing out. It's in really good shape but was really dirty. I shampooed it but it didn't really come clean. It's covered in this cream colored fabric so we are going to buy a slip cover for it. I have rearranged the furniture in the living room 3 times in the past 3 days trying to fit the recliner in! I think I like the way I have it done now, lol. The cats seem to like it anyway...
Took Kyle to physical therapy on Tuesday and after I dropped him off I went to Goodwill to drop off a few bags of stuff. Turned off the car, got out, gave them the bags, got back in my car and it wouldn't start-nothing, not even a click when I turned the key. So I pop the hood to see if the battery terminals are dirty, they look fine. So I tell the guy at the donation door my car won't start (I'm blocking the door with my car and the area that people drive thru) He offers to help me push it into a parking spot-thank goodness its a small car. I call my mom to come and get me as I have to get back to pick up Kyle. Then I call Carl to let him know what happened(he is working). He tells me to see if the battery cables are loose. Sure enough one of them turns really easily. I wiggle it around and try to start the car and it starts right up! Woo hoo! Call mom tell her not to come get me and head back to pick up Kyle. When we get home Kyle goes and buys new terminal connector things and puts them on my battery. Yay, all fixed!

spa visit

Today Jericho and I went to Palace Spa in Federal Way and had a couple of full body treatments! It was the first time either of us had ever done that kind of thing. I'm glad we had each other there for moral support, lol. We had a full body scrub and then a full body mud wrap. At the front desk they give you a stack of towels, a pair of shorts, a tee shirt, a terry wrap for your hair, a bath robe and a key for your locker. Just inside the lobby there are small lockers with a number that matches the number on your key. You remove your shoes and socks and lock them up in there. Then they take you through to the locker room area. There again is a locker with a number that matches the one on your key. You get naked and go into the shower area and shower off before you get into one of 3 different jacuzzi/soaking tubs. One is cold, one is warm and one is hot. They ask you to soak for 30 minutes before they do the body scrub. As you walk in to the shower area there is a large room to the right that is used for the scrub treatment. We saw a couple of ladies in there getting scrubbed down. So we put our towels in the little cubbies on the wall and get into the warm tub (which we both thought felt almost hot) So we sit in there and chat and try to get comfortable with the fact that we are naked and slowly start to realize, hey, so is everyone else in here! We start to feel a little overheated so we walk over to the cold tub and sit on the edge and just put our feet in-yowzah! It's cold! So we just hang our legs in and splash a little cold water on our faces to cool down. We look at the clock and realize we still have 15 or more minutes before they will be ready to start our scrub so we go put on the shorts and tee shirts they supplied us and go sit in a sauna room where the walls and floor are lined with these orangey peachy colored salt blocks. The floor is actually covered in salt chunks that resemble gravel. They put mats over the top of that for you to sit or lay on. We layed on the floor in there for about 5 mins then went back to the tub room. We were sitting next to the cold water tub again when this little Korean lady comes out wearing a matching bra and panties and gestures to both of us to get into the soaking tub that is labeled hot. Ok, we get in-yeah it's hot. She makes us stay in for a few minutes then gestures to Jericho to follow her. I get out and get in the warm one. My little Korean lady comes and gets me, she is wearing what looks like a two piece swimsuit in black. She shakes my hand gives me a little bow and tells me her name (which I promptly forgot) and leads me to a table that looks like its covered in white vinyl. Its wet and slippery, so I'm hoping I don't slide right off of it. She puts a small towel down under me and has me lay on my back. First they pour a couple of bowls of warm water on your then she puts on these mittens, grabs a bar of soap and starts scrubbing you down. Those mittens are very rough and they just scrub and scrub till your skin is red and all the dead stuff has rolled off! They roll you over, pull up your arms, bend your knees, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub, scrub!!! Then they rinse you off with a couple of more bowls of water, then they oil you down. They scrub your face too though not quite so thoroughly, and wrap it in a hot towel, like you see men do when they go to get a shave. After she wrapped my face in a hot, steamy towel, on top of the chin, pull down tight, up under the chin, pull up tight across the cheeks, fold across the forehead, cover the eyes, then whack, whack, whack, on the forehead right at the hairline!! Off comes the towel and now we get oiled up! By this time I'm looking at Jericho and trying not to burst into a fit of giggling...After the body is done she massaged my arms and legs, with a few slaps on the thighs for good measure, then massaged my face and head. She kept telling me to relax. Kind of hard to do when your starkers and not sure when the next whacking will come.
This process takes about 45 minutes, not counting the 30 mins we spent in the tubs. They help us both up off the tables when we are done and with lots of smiles and bowing, lead us out the doorway. We get our towels and dry off. We get into our robes and go upstairs for our next body treatment the mud wrap. This we can't get done together as there is only one girl that does the treatment and only one room for it. So I go first. It's a nice quiet little room with a heated table for you to lay on. She starts with a ginseng toner that she sprays over your chest, arms and legs. Then a rubdown with an oil that smells like cinnamon. Then comes the liquid mud. You get wrapped in a sheet of what looks and sounds like a combination of waxed paper and cling wrap. Once that is stuck to you, you roll over on your stomach and she does your back and the backs of your arms and legs. More paper wrapping then flip onto your back and then she piles some blankets on you. You start to sweat pretty quickly. Lay there for about 15 mins or so then she takes away the blankets, peels off the plastic wrap and starts wiping off the mud with damp, hot towels. She also massaged my neck and shoulders and scalp. Then she stepped out so I could put the robe back on, and then it was Jericho's turn. I went downstairs and got dressed then came back up and sat in a massage chair for awhile. My skin feels amazing, nice and smooth and soft and I feel pretty relaxed. Thanks Jericho!!

cigar boxes

Carl has recently been watching youtube videos of different folks building and playing cigar box guitars. If you've never seen or heard one you should check it out! They only have 3 strings and sound like nothing I've ever heard before. Really really cool!
So he wanted to find some cigar boxes to play around with and I knew there was a cigar lounge on 72nd out here in Tacoma. (I drive by it all the time, that's the only reason I knew it existed, btw :p
We went there this morning and asked it they had any empty cigar boxes. The guy at the counter said yes and took us in the back room where there was a small shelving unit in the center that had lots of them he said we could go through and they only cost us $1.00 each! So we bought 6. We both came out of there with headaches though-the place was full of guys smoking cigars-go figure, lol.
Kyle is doing better every day since his surgery on Tuesday. Had ACL repair on his right knee. Torn tendon repaired, ligaments and a few other things done. He is wearing a brace that goes from mid-thigh to his ankle and can't take it off for a few more days. We got to loosen the ace bandage today and he takes the brace off when he is sitting on the couch. Got to keep the leg elevated too. He isn't sleeping too well wearing that brace but he can't risk bending the knee right now. So he dozes off on the couch throughout the day. Meds make him sleepy too I think.
The twins graduate from culinary school this Sunday. They are having the graduation at the school which is in Tukwila, from 10am to noon. Should be fun.

Mead tasting

Yesterday afternoon Carl and I met Jericho and Mikey at 99 Bottles in Federal Way for a mead tasting event. It was only $2.50 per person and we sampled 4 different meads. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of mead, I find it way too sweet most of the time. The ones we tried yesterday however were really really good! We started with a dry one, then tried the semi-dry, then a semi-sweet and the sweetest one was last. The dry mead reminded me of chardonney, the sweet one was similar to a riesling. The last one was actually a raspberry mead and was really nice. The women that served us was the mead-maker and she was very informative and willing to share her knowledge of mead-making. The kids had invited another couple, Joelle and her husband Chris, to join us. They make their own beer and mead, so were taking notes as they tasted. The mead is made by Sky River Meadery and they do sell it at 99 bottles. After we finished tasting we went next door to Blue Fish for sushi. Carl has never had sushi before and he actually only ate the cooked stuff, hehe. I used to really love sushi and I did enjoy eating it again! Hmmm maybe I should consider becoming pescitarian...

Ok trying blogspot again! I think I can copy and paste my blogs from yahoo but maybe I will try that later.
Had another job interview on Thursday. It ended up being at a temp agency in Auburn but the job I applied for is a direct hire position in Fife for a small property management company. It's full time, 8 to 5 and pays between 12 and 13 dollars an hour. Should hear back on Monday.
Carl is building me a greenhouse! It's going to be about 8' x 16' and will be in the back yard near the back right corner of our house. We are going to try an aquaponics system. If you aren't familiar with that it is hydroponics with fish. Hydroponics is growing plants in water-no soil. Aquaponics you have fish which fertilize the water that you pump through to your plants and if you use say Tilapia in your fish tank you can eat your fish as well as your veggies! We have a large tank we are planning on using for the fish and have been shopping around at hardware stores and local hydroponics places, pricing things out and learning lots. Carl is a big fan of youtube :)
We will be taking pictures of our progress and I promise to post them here.
