New job etc...

Ok so I've been at my new job for over a month now. Starting to feel fairly comfortable with my duties and my co-workers. I'm working at Davita in the mailroom. We have super busy days and days when we pretty much work for an hour and then read magazines or play games for 2 or 3 hours. Most days I get sent home at 3:30 (I'm supposed to work till 4). That will probably stop soon as they train me to "close". Those nights I will stay till 5. This week they have been training me to go to the post office in downtown Tacoma and pick up our mail and also training me on what's called the "tower run". Basically it's delivering mail to all 10 floors of our building and picking up any outgoing mail from those floors as well. Pretty simple but learning where some of the desks are and who sits at them has been a challenge, but I'm figuring it out. Today when we got to work we were told that there had been a power outage over night and that our computer servers were down and no eta on when they might be up again. We don't really use computers in the mail room except to clock in and out. So we started our usual stuff, I ran to the post office and picked up the mail, came back and we started processing it. At about 8am our manager told us that the computers were probably going to be down all day and they might start sending us home around 10. Sure enough by about 10 we start to see folks heading out the door. By 11:30 or 12 we are done with all the mail and pretty much everyone has been sent home but us. Our manager tells us we have to stay until we hear otherwise...we ended up staying all day! We don't really know why and were told to come in tomorrow as usual even though everyone else was told to call in before coming in as they still think the computers may still be down. And everyone that got sent home got paid for their full 8 hours! Kinda lame but whatever. Me and one other girl got to leave at 2:30. I debated leaving early as I doubt we will get paid for our full 8 hours but there was nothing to do! I felt bad for the girl who was scheduled to stay till 5...I really don't want to show up there tomorrow and be told to go home but that at least would be better than being told we have to stay all day with nothing to do! Hopefully that won't happen.
I actually had to scrape a little snow off my windshield this morning. Snow showers in the forcast for monday and tuesday...
Really nothing new going on around here-Carl's still building cigar box guitars, I haven't done any sewing or jewelry making in a few months, just not inspired and I'm too tired after work to do anything creative, lol.
